English: Marmaris, Turkey (Aug. 8, 2002) -- Photographer's Mate Airman Teresa Ellison of Newport, R.I., bargains with a Turkish rug salesman during a four-day port visit by USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp sailors and Marines were able to shop in Marmaris' open street market area during their ship’s recent port visit. The ship's morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) committee organized tours to several ancient cities, a water-rafting and scuba diving excursion, and a horseback riding trip. The Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is homeported in Norfolk, Va., and is on a scheduled six-month deployment conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
